Abstract:

The Islamic religion has established several provisions regulating the lives of Muslims. While some of these provisions are known to every Muslim, some others have been learned only by Muslims who have information about it. Thus, the other Muslims have the access to the information they need by applying to those people if necessary. Islamic inheritance law is also a private field of law that can be referred to specialists in the field except for some basic provisions and principles. As in the past, today, when a person dies, Muslims usually divide the property under supervision of a person who knows the regulations of the hereditary law. However, with the development of technology, programmes and smart device applications that can substitute the experts in inheritance issues have also entered our lives. Nowadays, some Muslims might use the programmes prepared for this purpose instead of asking anyone who knows how to divide the assets of their deceased relatives. These programmes, which are useful in terms of providing the opportunity to access the required information at any time and quickly, can cause misdirections in some cases. Improper usage of the users, as well as the insufficiency of the software maker on inheritance law, can cause programmes to make incorrect calculations. Therefore, it is necessary for these programmes to be checked whether they are working correctly or not. In this article, which was written with aforementioned purpose, Turkish inheritance programmes prepared based on the provisions of the farāidh science will be examined. In addition to the correct calculation criterion, considerations such as the scope of the programme, preferences in controversial issues and the practicality of use will also be included in the assessment
