Abstract:

This study aims to analyze the role of these networks in the processes of socialization and identity building with the practices of using the location-based social sharing networks of university youth. In this study in which the karma pattern was adopted, the qualitative and qualitative research method was used together. In the study, an survey was conducted with 240 students from the Swarm user in a total of six faculties selected from Eskişehir Osmangazi University and Anadolu University. Nicel data is analyzed by taking frequencies in the SPSS program, using cross-table and Ki frame analysis. In addition, a half-structured deep interview was conducted with 13 students selected among the surveyed students. The study found that location-based social networks have played an important role in differentiating users’ forms of socialization and creating their identities. Moreover, it was revealed that most participants are the manifestation of their identity outside of the identity that they try to create with their location statements.
