Abstract:

Tradition concept like most of the other social science concepts has a complicated meaning. This results from the science understood of modern times. But being a modern concept on itself it can’t be said there is a vigorous approach from both sides to the tradition. In one side there is modernization introducing itself as “not traditional” and trying to materialize itself using tradition as a background, and on the other side there is traditionalism trying to live the past in today and constant the tradition in a moment of the past and as a result of that be able to save it. The both approaches are trying to give a different meaning to the tradition from its real meaning, or they have such an aim indirectly. Despite this they both must be accepted far from as a concept, or structure, they must be accepted as “mentality scheme” or express mentality categories. Although being between these two struggles tradition longs its existence.
