Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of teachers’ perceptions of managers showing toxic leadership behavior on teachers’ organizational commitments. The research was done in the visual and relative scan model by quantum method. The study included 385 teachers working in the Karabük-Safranbolu district. Toxite Leadership Scale, which was developed by Schmidt (2008) to determine the toxic behavior of managers as a data collection tool, has been used. The validity and reliability studies of the scale were conducted by Celebi, Güner and Star (2015) . To determine the level of organizational commitment of teachers, the organizational commitment scale developed by Allen, Mayer (1990) was also used. The validity and reliability study of the measurement was done by Mountains, Ambassadors and Han (2018) This study used average, percentage, factor analysis, t test, ANOVA and regression analysis as illustrative statistical methods. Research finds that managers’ toxic leadership behaviors have a negative impact on teachers’ organizational commitment. Toxic leadership behaviors have not been shown to affect the organizational commitment of teachers. The emotional commitment of teachers has been achieved to the result that managers are ignorant of their value. It has also turned out that toxic leadership behavior is an important contributor to organizational commitment.
