Çocuk, dünyaya geldiği andan itibaren birçok uyarıcı ile karşılaşır aynı zamanda karşılaşılan bu uyarıcılar çocuğun tüm gelişimi üzerine etki etmektedir. Ebeveynlerin, ilk aylardan itibaren çocukları için gelişimlerine uygun, kaliteli kitaplar seçmesi önem arz etmektedir. Erken çocukluk dönemi çocukları için etkili bir uyarıcı olan çocuk kitaplarının öneminden ve alan yazındaki eksiklikten yola çıkarak bu çalışma, erken çocukluk döneminde çocuğu olan ebeveynlerin resimli çocuk kitaplarını tercih etme önceliklerinin incelenmesi amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklem grubunu 0-8 yaş arası çocuğu olan 101 ebeveyn oluşmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacılar tarafından ilgili alan yazına göre “Ebeveynlerin Çocuk Kitapları Tercih Etme Öncelikleri Soru Formu” hazırlanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz ile yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma sonuçları ile ebeveynlerin resimli çocuk kitabı seçiminde dikkat ettiği önceliklerde, resimli çocuk kitaplarının faydalarında, kitapları tercih etmedeki sebeplerinde bilinçli oldukları söylenebilir. Ancak kitapların sadece sanat gibi yaratıcılık gibi soyut anlamalardaki faydaları göz ardı edilmektedir.
