Abstract:

The purpose of our study is to explore the reasons why the accounting department students prefer the accounting department and their expectations from the accounting department. In accordance with this objective, in the 2018-2019 academic year, the survey method was applied to 104 students who studied in the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Fırat in the Department of Accounting. In the analysis of data, the frequency, arithmetic average, anova and t tests were applied. According to the results of the analysis, the accounting department is ranked in the preferred rankings of students in the accounting department in the range of 1-5 . This situation shows us that students are willing to come to the department, they prefer the department to get more knowledge in the accounting field. The student’s greatest expectation from the accounting department is the idea that the department will increase their confidence in themselves. According to the test, there was a significant difference between the expectations of girls and boys from the accounting department. The expectations for girls are higher than for boys.
