Abstract:

In today’s world, technological developments have also made it possible to increase and diversify the images around us and the devices (objects) that produce the image, as in every field. This situation leads to the formation of individuals and modern societies of the visual culture, which consists of elements that produce or host images such as television, newspapers, magazines, internet, digital images, mobile phones, multi-media tools, computer games, fashion, advertising panels, workplace exhibitions and city furniture. The most effective part of this forming is the children. Children find a way to explain their feelings and thoughts that come to the middle of this formatting through pictures. High-quality and talented children, by means of the characteristics they have differently from their ages, present these stories in a different way. The purpose of the research is to understand the patterns of visual culture perceptions through the drawings of children with superior abilities/capacity. In this context, the focus is on which elements of visual culture are influenced by superior talented children, what kind of images they use in their drawings, the effects of visual cultural images and what they will learn at the end of the painting activity. This study is a qualitative research. Working group, in the 2013-2014 educational year in the Scientific and Art Centers in different years (BILSEM) in the age range of 8-12 years 3., 4., 5. and 6. The classroom is composed of 207 randomly selected high-quality and talented children. In the framework of the research, superior talented children were asked to draw pictures of the visual images they saw around them. Children's drawings and the texts they write behind the paper were used to evaluate the pictures. Content analysis is used for data analysis. The study found that superior-talent children were influenced in various forms by visual cultural elements, and they reflected these influences in linear narrative forms.
