Abstract:

Social-based tourism is a model of tourism that supports sustainable development. It is a tourism model that, unlike other sustainable tourism types, the local population is concerned with the development of tourism. Social-based tourism, which is a solution to reduce the negative effects of mass tourism activities, is the priority of alternative initiatives such as sustainability, local development, the participation of the local people in the tourism development in the region, the conservation of natural areas and natural life. The aim of the study is to identify the views of the local people in the Isparta and Burdur provinces in the Lake Area on social-based tourism. According to this goal, 453 people selected by the judicial sample method from the local people living in the Burdur and Isparta provinces were surveyed and the local people’s opinions on social-based tourism were attempted to be identified. The study used the quantum research method and the student's t test was injured from the ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis tests. According to the results of the study; the people living in the Burdur province have been found that the local authority’s participation and the tendency to invest in tourism are higher than those living in the Isparta province. It is also found that people living in the Lake Area have increased their sensation of belonging with the increase in their residence periods in the area. Students have shown differences according to the sizes of the conditions of earnings from tourism, membership in any association or organization related to tourism and positive economic impact from the developments in the tourism sector.
