Türkiye’de başta sanayi, ticaret, turizm, eğitim vb. faaliyetler bakımındangelişmiş şehir olan İstanbul’un nüfusu 2018 yılı Adrese Dayalı Nüfus Kayıt Sistemi’ne (ADNKS) göre 15.067.724 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nin ilk nüfus sayımının yapıldığı 1927 yılında 806.860 olan kent nüfusu özellikle 1950’lerden itibaren hızlı artış sürecine girmiştir. Bu nüfus artışı üzerinde rol oynayanönemli faktör ise kente yapılan başta ulaşım olmak üzere sanayi ve ticaret alanlarındaki yatırımlar olmuştur. Bu yatırımlarla birlikte iş imkânlarının artması ve ticari canlılığın etkisiyle İstanbul ülkenin birçok şehrinden hızlı bir şekilde yoğun göç almaya başlamıştır. 1950’li yıllara kadar İstanbul’da nüfus Suriçi, Kadıköy ve Üsküdar bölgelerinde yoğunluk oluştururken İstanbul’a gerçekleşen hızlı göçün etkisiyle kentin her iki yakasında yeni yerleşim merkezleri oluşmuştur. Bu yerleşim merkezlerinden biri de Esenyurt ilçesidir. Esenyurt, 1960’lı yılların sonuna kadar ekonomisi tarım ve hayvancılığa dayalı bir köy yerleşmesidir. Sanayi kuruluşlarının bölgeye taşınmasıyla beraber ortaya çıkan işgücü ihtiyacı büyük göç akınına sebep olmuştur. Göçlerle birlikte bölgeye yapılan demografik yatırımlar zamanla ticaret, eğitim, sağlık gibi fonksiyonların gelişimini sağlamıştır. Böylece Esenyurt hızlı bir gelişim süreci içine girmiştir. Bu çalışmada 1989 yılına kadar köy statüsüne sahipken hızlı nüfus artışı sonucunda gelişip büyüyen ve 2018 yılında 891.120 kişilik nüfusuyla İstanbul’unkalabalık ilçesi olan Esenyurt’ta nüfusun gelişim aşamalarını ve artış sebeplerini ortaya koymaya çalışacağız.
In Turkey mainly industry, trade, tourism, education, etc. The population of Istanbul, which is a developed city in the maintenance of activities, was identified as 15.067.724 according to the Address-Based Population Register System (ADNKS) in 2018. The city population, which was 806,860 in 1927, when the first population census of the Republic Period was made, has entered a rapid growth process especially since the 1950s. The important factor that plays a role in this population growth was the investment in the industrial and commercial areas, including transportation in the city. With these investments, the increase in business opportunities and the impact of commercial vitality, Istanbul has begun to rapidly receive intense immigration from many cities in the country. Until the 1950s, the population in Istanbul was a concentration in the Suriçi, Kadıköy and Üsküdar regions, while the impact of the rapid migration to Istanbul has formed new settlement centers on both sides of the city. One of these towns is the town of Esenyurt. Esenyurt, until the end of the 1960s, the economy was a rural settlement based on agriculture and livestock. The need for workforce that arose with the industrial organizations moving to the region has led to a large immigration flow. The demographic investments in the region, along with migrations, have provided the development of functions such as trade, education, healthcare over time. Thus, the Esenyurt has entered a rapid development process. This study developed and grown as a result of rapid population growth while having the status of a village until 1989 and in 2018 891. With a population of 120 people, we will try to reveal the development stages of the population in Esenyurt, which is the district of Istanbul, and the causes of the growth.
