Thanks to the unifying policies of Ekber Shah, the third ruler of the state of Babür, founded by Babür Shah in India; that the Arab, Persian and Turkish civilizations were brought together with the civilization of India prepared a basis for a new style in the field of poetry. This new style, referred to as sebk-i Hindi regarding the lands where it had been formed, is defined as pushing the meaning of poetry into the background and expressing many things with few words by ambiguating the meaning via literarily and eloquently reflecting emotions and dreams with original and intricate imagery and subtle dreams. In this study, the life, works and literary personality of Urfî-i Shîrâzî, one of the founders and leading representatives of sebk-i Hindî movement, will be emphasized; the impact ıf Urfî-i Shîrâzî on the Turkish poets will be determined based on the poems by Turkish poets.
