Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the status and expectations of music teachers to participate in service educational programs. According to the screening model, the work was carried out with 48 music teachers in the center of Tokat, Turkey. The data is obtained through a personal information form and a standardized conversation form and is analyzed according to the visual analysis technique. According to the research, the participation rate of music teachers in service educational activities is low. Teachers tend to participate in the events organized by the Ministry of National Education instead of the activities organized by the Ministry of National Education. The topics of the event are mainly aimed at the promotion of the curriculum. Music teachers call for the organization of service educational activities in teaching methods, technology, Turkish music and teaching and guidelines and personal development. The expectations of the teachers are related to the planning, implementation and evaluation process; the determination of the content of the event by themselves, the presentation of the subjects by field experts from the universities, the organization of the events in the city where they work and during the seminary periods. The results of the research were discussed in the framework of the issues related to the subject.
