Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to investigate and demonstrate the attitudes of preschool teachers towards the values education. The study group of this research consists of 75 preschool teachers who are working either stateor private preschools (which are part of national education directorate) in Bingöl. Underlying data of there search has been collected by researchers using their own ‘personal information form’ and Yaşaroğlu’s ‘Values Education attitude scale’ (2014) which consists of 25 items. This study is a screening model and of a descriptive nature. According to the results of the study, attitudes of preschool teachers towards values education were ‘positive’. These results reveal that preschool teachers find values education as ‘important’ for children’s future. The scores of attitude from ‘Values Education attitude scale’ have not differentiated neither by preschool teacher’s gender, age, seniority in work life, education level nor by their status of taking ‘values education course’. However, scores of attitude from ‘Values Education attitude scale’ have differentiated depending on whether preschool teachers have lectured on ‘values education’ in their classes or not. According to this, the results say that the preschool teachers who have lectured on ‘values education’ in their classes gave more importance to the values than the preschool teachers who have not lectured on ‘values education’ in their classes.
