Abstract:

New technologies have recently started to influence the processes of in-class learning.  Interactive boards are one of these new technologies. There is no doubt that the opportunities provided by interactive boards for the educational environment are largely dependent on the intentions of teachers who will integrate and use these boards in educational settings. In this regard, studies aimed at increasing prospective teachers’ attitudes toward using interactive boards more have become important in recent years. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of simulation activities on pre-service science teachers’ intentions towards the use of interactive board and their perceptions towards using interactive board. Experimental design one group pre-test /post-test design was used for the study. The study group consisted of 32 pre-service science teachers who took the Special Teaching Methods course in the Department of Science Education at Siirt University during the academic year of 2015-2016. Data were collected through the use of“ interactive board adoption and intention to use scale”, which was developed by Davis (1989), Hu et al. (2003) and adapted to the Turkish language by Solak (2012:56-59). Pre-test and post-test mean scores were performed with paired samples t-test. According to results, integrating interactive board into teaching positively affected pre-service science teachers’ intentions towards the use of interactive board in general.
