Abstract:

Yaşar Kemal is one of the eminent figures of Turkish literature. He has served for the development of Turkish literature since 1950s. His novels have an international reputation among novel lovers. He also writes in different genres. But he is mostly famous for his novels. His novels were very much appreciated in Turkey as soon as they were published. They have also been translated in to many languages.  Mersin Üni. Fen-Edebiyat Fak. Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Böl., [email protected] Although he is a novelist, he also wrote poems. His first poem was published in 1939 whereas his first novel İnce Memed I was published in 1955. Yaşar Kemal compiled his poems in his book titled Bugünlerde Bahar İndi in 2010. In this book, it seems that he made a selection of his poems among the ones he liked most. These poems reveal his poetic aspect. Regarding the book, this article aims to examine his poetic side that is hardly ever known. His poems are analyzed according to theme, form, harmony, language and features of expression. In this way the features of Yaşar Kemal’s poems are identified and explained.
