Abstract:

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between university student’s critical thinking dispositions and their socio demographic characteristics The sample of the research consist of 353 volunteer students attending to various faculties of Çukurova University during 2006 2007 spring semester 175 of them are female and 178 of them are male California Critical Thinking Dispositions Inventory and Personal Information Form were used to collect data Data were analyzed by using One Way Anova and multiple regression analysis Scheffe F test was used to determine the groups between which meaningful differences are present At the end of the study meaningful differences were determined between “the students” critical thinking dispositions” and “their mothers’ education levels” “perceived parental attitude” “perceived superior personality characteristics” According to multiple regression analysis socio demographic characteristics as predictors for university students’ critical thinking dispositions are respectively” perceived parental attitude” “perceived superior personality characteristics” and “mother’s education level” Key Word: Thinking critical thinking critical thinking dispositions
