Abstract:

The 17th and 18th centuries are the times when new styles and techniques emerged in Divan poetry In these centuries in Turkish poetry there aren’t only influential and independent styles such as Sebk i Hindî and oracular styles but also there are some styles which are effective in small scales One of these small scaled styles can be called as “realistic expression” This style affected ghazel writing It resembles the style called “Vukû Gûyî” that emerged in Persian literature in the 16th century However it isn’t clear whether Vukû Gûyî affected the realistic style in Turkish poetry or not This style can’t be compared with the realism of the 19th century but it might be counted as more realistic than similar styles in the same age Keywords: Realistic expression Turkish poetry in the 17th and 18th centuries Ghazel Style Technique
