Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationships between cultural dimensions of power distance and collectivism with dimensions of organizational silence. The sample of the study consisted of 462 employees of 900 employees who work at a multinational company headquartered in Istanbul. Data were collected through a questionnaire. Regression analysis was used to test hypotheses. Research results showed that power distance increased acquiescent (β = .413, p <.05) and defensive (β = .363, p <.05) silence, but it had no effect on protective silence. The results also showed that collectivism decreased acquiescent (β= -.116, p<.05)  and defensive (β= -.125, p< .05) silence, but it increased prosocial (β= .134, p< .05) silence.
