Abstract:

This study aims to determine the impact of activities developed in accordance with the methods of education of values, taking advantage of Turkish folk fairy tales, on the attitudes of primary school 8th grade students towards human values. For this purpose, some Turkish folk fairy tales, which are considered to be focused on human values such as responsibility, friendship/friendship, being peaceful, respect, tolerance and honesty, have been selected and tried to be processed according to the methods of education of values. In the study, the pre-test - final-test control group test model was used. The test group consisted of 22 students and the control group consisted of 20 students. For the collection of research data, both groups were applied "Human Values Scale" at the beginning and end of the experimental study process. In the analysis of the data, unrelated samples were used by the t test. The analysis found that when the test and control group studied the final test measurement results, the test group found a significant difference in favor of the students [t(40)=8.899, p < 0.05]. According to this conclusion, the activities developed in accordance with the methods of education of values by taking advantage of Turkish people’s fairy tales have shown a positive impact on the attitudes and behaviors of students regarding human values such as responsibility, friendship/friendship, peacefulness, respect, tolerance and honesty.
