Abstract:

The birth, physical structure, lifestyle and death of the Prophet Muhammad, who is one of the two main sources of the religion of Islam and has been an exemplary for the Muslims from every respect, has been frequently the subject of many types of sira literary works. These works cover a wide variety either in the form of verse or prose. Especially such types of works like mawlid, mi'raciya and na't in which the fondness and annoying felt for Muhammad, the prophet and hilya which reflects a portrait of him made by each of his companions from a different angle have taken their place among the different colors of our civilization. This essay aims to presenting information about "shamail" as it the main source of hilya, hilya itself, the reasons of the birth of hilya and types of hilya. Taking into consideration the fact that there is a considerable number of works about the hilyas in the form of verse and that the hilyas in the form of prose has not the same interest, we attached the transribed text of a hilyas in the form of prose written by Halil b. Ali al-Krimî to the end of this article.
