Abstract:

The Russians published a newspaper named Tifflisskiy Vedomosti (Tbilisi News) in 1828 by the politics of colonisim , after invasion of Caucasusian and Azerbaijan. Various articles about Azerbaijan was released in this newspaper which printed in Russian. Azerbaijan's first national newspaper is “Ekinci Newspaper” published semi-monthly by Hasan Bey Zerdabi in 22 July 1875.This newspaper,which was being published previously in 4 pages ,later in 8 pages,achieved a significant breakthrough in formation of national press in Azerbaijan. After Ekinci,Ziya and Ziya-yı Kafkasiyye Newspapers was published.By the following of this two newspapers,the magazine named Keşkül was released . After these newspapers and magazines was closed by reason of Russian censorship,publishing newspapers and magazines in Azerbaijani Turkish Language was not allowed.Finally, Şark-ı Rus Newspaper was published in 1903. Turkish Press in Azerbaijan significantly made progress after the 1905 Russian Revolution. Between years of 1905 and 1920 , approximately sixty newspapers and magazines was released. These newspapers and magazines had played an important role in the political and social life. In the article, major newspapers and magazines published in this period has been analyzed according to the order of importance.
