Abstract:

In today’s rapidly changing and difficult competition environment, the patient’s ability to choose the hospital they want is an important issue that needs to be focused on healthcare operations. But when the national literature is studied, it has not been found that there is no comprehensive study of what factors are effective on the patient’s hospital choices. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive list of factors affecting the patient’s hospital choices. In line with this objective, on the basis of the 1996-2017 time period and using a number of inclusion-exclusion criteria, a total of 102 national publications were studied by systematic collection methods. The study found that there were 46 different causes that influenced patients’ hospital choices. Among these, the reason for preference, which is considered the most important for patients, is in order; It was determined that the distance to the hospital, the recommendation of the immediate environment, the perception of price appropriateness, the absence of alternatives, the type of health insurance, the recognition / prestige of the hospital, and the service quality-quality certificate. On the other hand, the reasons for preference, which are given little importance for the patients, are as follows; It has been determined that the gender of the health personnel and the examinations made by the individuals about the hospital.
