Abstract:

The study assessed the status of students studying at a public university in Turkey in relation to social gender perceptions according to various variables. The data of the visual research in the screening model was collected through the "Social Gender Perception Scale". The study included 2260 people who continued their studies at a public university in Turkey. The study examined the relationship of the participants’ social gender perceptions with some sociodemographic characteristics. The data was evaluated by independent sampling t test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and Scheffe test. The average age of 2260 people involved in the study was 21.40, 48.7 percent women, 51.3 percent men, 56.5 percent high schools and faculties, and 43.5 percent professional high schools. The scale is 125 and the average is 93.55. According to the independent sample t test results, the average gender perception score of women participants is significantly higher than the average gender score of men. There is no significant difference between the age of university students and the social gender perception score average (p>0,05). According to the independent groups t test results, the social gender perception score average of the two groups (faculty and MYO) was statistically meaningful (p<0,005). The study found that the variables that influenced the social gender perception of participants were gender, the higher education unit they studied (faculty or MYO), the place where their families lived and the place where they stayed during their studies.
