Abstract:

This study, which studies the use of social networks for educational purposes, has two objectives. The first of these objectives is to develop a scale to be used to determine the attitudes of students towards the use of social networks for educational purposes. The other goal is to compare high school students’ attitudes towards the use of social networks for educational purposes (SAEAKYT) according to the frequency of use of social networks that are widely used. According to the frequency of students using social networks, SAEAKYTs have been studied by the general scan method. In the study, 352 students who studied in 3 different types of schools in Siirt in the 2017-2018 educational year and a scale in the likert type of 21 materials 5 was developed. The scale consists of three subdimensions, known as behavior size, information size and emotional size, and describes approximately 58% of the variance. The Cronbach Alpha ratio is .93. The conformity index obtained by verifying factor analysis is within acceptable limits. According to the frequency of use of the YouTube social sharing network, the study found that the student’s average SAEAKYT scores varied significantly in favor of those who use a lot. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Whatsapp use frequency did not make a significant difference between the SAEAKYT score average.
