Abstract:

The question of religious groups, which appear as different manifestations of religious life and in the formation of which various sociological, psychological and economic acts have influenced, has always been questioned with which aspects people participate. In our country’s perspective, the existence of compulsory courses related to the teaching of religious knowledge in primary and secondary educational institutions and the existence of many official educational institutions that provide religious education at the middle and high level is also a question of why people are addressed to religious groups. In this context, it is necessary that the motivations of individuals toward religious groups and their strong religious group membership and commitments, together with all their components, be investigated and explained. The answer to the question of how the students in the theological faculties who educate the elements to guide the society in a religious direction assess religious groups is important for those interested in the subject. From these reasons, a study was conducted on students from 9 theological faculties selected from different regions throughout Turkey. In this article, the results obtained from the answers given by a total of 1595 students are assessed and the findings of the opinions and assessments of the students of the Faculty of Theology on religious groups are revealed.
