Abstract:

This study has been designed to introduce an Occupational Health Center which have been giving support to Primary Health Services. And also, it was designed to find out the effect of ideal doctor - patient relationship to the number of the patients who have been sent to hospitals (Secondary Health Units). This research has been designed as a descriptive study. Data were collected from ali of the patients who had come to the policlinics of İzmir Security Department Health Center in 1993, 1994 and 1995. İn these years, the re have been no change at the technical and physical conditions of this health center. İn 1994 and 1995, health service s were given by means of an ideal doctor - patient relationship which had been designed by the help of a spesific protocol. İn 1993, routine health services were given without ideal doctorpatient relationship. Statistical analyses of this study were made by using "T test". Health services given by the occupational health units should be at the comtemporary level. Even alone, application of ideal doctor - patient relationship at these units, will reduce the number of patients who are sent to secondary health units (hospitals). This faet has been proved by means of this study which has been designed and performed at Health Center of İzmir Security Department. İn 1994 and 1995 the re have been statistically significant reductions at the number of patients who have been sent to hospitals when compared with 1993. İn 1994, the reduction was 5.5 percent (965.5) when compared with 1993 (t = 15,27) (p < 0,01). İn 1995, the reduction was 5.0 percent ( % 5.0 ) when compared with 1993 (t = 15,15) (p < 0,01).
