Abstract:

This study compares Kutadgu Bilig’s word staff, which is an important and voluminous manuscript written with the Eastern (Karahanlı) Turkish of the eleventh century, with the Kyrgyz Turkish from today’s Turkish languages. The work was prepared and published by Reşit Rahmeti Arat in Turkey with the Kutadgu Bilig Text and Translations (Yusuf Has Hacib Kutadgu Bilig I-Metin, Yusuf Has Hacib Kutadgu Bilig II-Translations) again prepared by him but K. Eraslan, O.F. Sertkaya is based on the Kutadgu Bilig III Index, which was prepared and published by N. Yüce. Each word and meaning in the index was compared with the form and meaning in the Kyrgyz Turkish; every explanatory meaning in the Kutadgu Bilig was attempted to be replied in the Kyrgyz Turkish; variing meanings, variing (different) structures, old words were identified. The words that should be in the index and the proposed by Semih Tezcan are also included in the work (if there is a Kirgizic response). The words in the Index that have a problem in meaning or reading (113 pieces) have not been taken to work. After all, it has been found that the words in Kutadgu Bilig, which contain three thousand words (2998) in approximately 46/47 per cent of the Kyrgyz Turkish language have been partially altered meaning and structure and are also subjected to sound changes and events.
