Bu araştırmanın amacı ilköğretim okullarında okutulması önerilen ve 100 temel eser içerisinde yer alan Rıfat Ilgaz’a ait “Halime Kaptan” adlı kitabında değerlere yer verilme durumunu analiz etmektir. Nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu araştırmada, veri toplamak için dokuman analizi tekniği tercih edilmiş, verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından 2018 yılında öğretim programlarında öğrencilere kazandırılması için kök değerler olarak belirtilen “ adalet, dostluk, dürüstlük, öz denetim, sabır, saygı, sevgi, sorumluluk, vatanseverlik, yardımseverlik” değerleri ile ilgili eserde yer alan ifadeler belirlenmiş, ardından bu ifadeler yorumlanarak ilgili değerin başlığı altında verilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular incelendiğinde “Halime Kaptan” adlı kitapta en fazla yer verilen değerin vatanseverlik değeri olduğu ardından sırasıyla yardımseverlik, sorumluluk, sevgi, saygı, dürüstlük, öz denetim ve adalet değerlerinin yer aldığı belirlenmiştir. Eserde dostluk ve sabır değerlerine ise rastlanmamıştır. Eserin, belirlenmiş değerler göz önüne alındığında zengin bir içeriğe sahip olduğu görülmüştür.
The purpose of this research is to analyze the status of the values included in the book "Halime Captain" of Rıfat Ilgaz, which is proposed to be taught in primary schools and is included in 100 basic works. In this study, in which the quality research method is used, the document analysis technique is preferred to collect data, the visual analysis method is used in the analysis of data. According to the Ministry of National Education in 2018, the explanations included in the work regarding the values of "Justice, Friendship, Honesty, Self-Control, Patience, Respect, Love, Responsibility, Patrioticity, Assistance" defined as root values to be given to students in the teaching programmes in 2018, then these explanations were interpreted and given under the title of the relevant value. When the findings obtained from the research were examined, the most placed value in the book "Halime Captain" was the value of patriotism, and then the value of utility, responsibility, love, respect, honesty, self-control and justice were respectively included. There is no value of friendship and patience. It has been shown that the work has a rich content, taking into account determined values.
