Genel olarak, insanların bir yerleşim sahasındaki ikamet alanı tercihleri üzerinde doğal, demografik, kültürel, ekonomik ve siyasi faktörler etkili olmaktadır. Bu faktörler altında bilinçli, zorlayıcı ve tesadüfi seçimler sonucunda, belli grupların, belli alanlarda yoğunlaştığı, kümelendiği tespit edilmekte; bu durum mekânsal ayrışma olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Eldeki çalışmada, Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu (TÜİK) tarafından ilçe düzeyinde sunulan yaş, cinsiyet, eğitim durumu, nüfusa kayıtlı olunan yer, milletvekili seçim sonuçları veri setleri analiz edilerek, Samsun ilinin metropol ilçelerinde mekânsal ayrışma izleri aranmıştır. Sonuçta metropol ilçeler arasında nüfusta, yukarıda ifade edilen özelliklere göre anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu, özellikle Atakum ve Canik ilçelerinin birbirinden ayrıştığı tespit edilmiştir.
In general, natural, demographic, cultural, economic and political factors influence people’s preferences of residence in a settlement area. Under these factors, the result of conscious, compelling and random choices is determined that certain groups are concentrated, accumulated in certain areas; this situation is defined as spatial separation. In the study, the age, gender, educational status, place registered in the population presented by the Turkish Statistical Bureau (TÜIK) at the district level, the data sets of parliamentary election results were analyzed, and spots of spatial separation in the metropolitan districts of Samsun were sought. After all, there are significant differences in the population between the metropolitan districts, according to the characteristics expressed above, especially that the districts of Atakum and Canik are separated from each other.
