Abstract:

When looking at the areas where civilizations are established, it is seen that places near the water are preferred, especially with the transition to agricultural life. Beyond having rich water beds in Bayburt, as well as having the role of a crossroads on important road routes, it has made the region a place of attraction. In the area that houses water structures of various civilizations on its land, it is possible to see how functionality is held in the forefront in almost every neighborhood. This study covers the sample of 16 fountains built in the city center of Bayburt and in its villages. Eight of the works were built in the city centre and eight in the villages. While 2 samples from the bricks did not come to our day, 3 samples have completely lost their original characteristics as a result of their repairs. One example is faced with the danger of collapse. The earliest date of the rocks that are currently standing was in 1800/1801 and the later date was in 1969. The buildings were built in a period of 150 years near each other. From the samples built to the present, all of the structures that can come to the present are carried out as a street fountain, and 11 samples are built independently, depending on a sampled structure. The works, according to their plans, are horizontal or vertical straight-planned and U-planned, built with a single-front, brick or round belt, usually using a straight-cutting stone. 5 of the works in the decoration program in the plant, geometric, objective decoration in other examples the removal generations move the front. With this work, for the first time the Bayburt Fountains will be examined collectively and will be tried to be assessed from the point of view of Turkish Art History.
