Solow tarafından literatüre kazandırılan Neoklasik büyüme modelinin temel varsayımlarından olan yakınsama hipotezi, ekonomik büyüme literatürün en temel konularından birini oluşturmaktadır. Bu hipotez, sermayenin azalan verimliliği ve teknolojinin giderek yayılması gibi nedenlerden dolayı zamanla düşük gelir seviyesine sahip olan ülkelerin gelir seviyesi yüksek olan ülkelere yakınsayacağını ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı E-7 ülkeleri için 1990-2021 dönemini kapsayan kişi başı gelir düzeyi verileri kullanılarak yakınsama hipotezinin geçerliliğini Yatay Kesit Genişletilmiş Im, Pesaran ve Shin (CIPS) panel birim kök testi ile analiz etmektir. Yapılan testlerin soncunda ise E-7 ülkelerinde yakınsamanın geçerli olduğu bulunmuştur. Bu sonuç E-7 ülke grubundaki geliri düşük olan ülkelerin uzun dönemde grupta yer alan diğer ülkeleri yakalayacağını göstermektedir.
The Convergence Hypothesis, one of the basic assumptions of the Neoclassical growth model introduced to the literature by Solow, constitutes one of the most fundamental topics of economic growth literature. This hypothesis reveals that over time, countries with low income levels will converge to countries with high income levels due to reasons such as the decreasing productivity of capital and the gradual spread of technology. The aim of this study is to analyze the validity of the convergence hypothesis using the per capita income level data covering the period 1990-2021 for E-7 countries with the Cross-Section Extended Im, Pesaran and Shin (CIPS) panel unit root test. As a result of the tests, it was found that convergence was valid in E-7 countries. This result shows that the low-income countries in the E-7 country group will catch up with the other countries in the group in the long run.
