Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to determine the levels of reading in the free time of university students who remain in the credit institution. The study’s sample group consisted of 313 university students, including 207 men and 106 women, with an average age (20,49 ± 1,751) living in the higher education facilities associated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Manisa. The study used the "Free Time Reading Scale (SZOÖ)" developed by Arslan (2018) to determine the levels of individual free-time literature. In the assessment of the data, identifiable statistics, average, standard deviation, media, quarters and percentages and frequencies were used. The scores calculated to the variable's scores' confusion and pressure study showed that there were no significant deviations from normal distribution. The MANOVA technique has been applied to compare variables. The results of the analysis showed that the participants showed significant differences according to the variable of the condition of participation in physical activity for the single sub-dimensional SZOÖ. There was no significant difference in the results of the MANOVA analysis from the other variables examined by participants. As a result, it appears that the variable of participation in physical activity causes significant differences over the levels of reading in the participants’ free time. Additionally, there is no statistically significant difference between the participants’ free time, free time opportunities and free time assessment conditions over the free time reading levels.
