Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate Turkish and Turkish Culture level 8 to determine the status of the speaking and writing activities in the level textbook to meet the learning outcomes in the 2018 Turkish and Turkish Culture Course Curriculum. The study is qualitative research and has a descriptive nature. Document analysis was chosen as the data collection method of the study. Data analysis was done with descriptive analysis. Depending on the purpose of the study, four problems and five sub-problem sentences were created. The examined book was analyzed in line with these sentences. The 8th level textbook of Turkish and Turkish Culture and the speaking and writing activities in it were chosen as the study object. The speaking and writing activities in the book were examined depending on the speaking and writing achievements in the curriculum prepared for the Turkish and Turkish Culture course in 2018. As a result of these examinations, fourteen prepared speeches and thirty-two impromptu speech activities in eight themes in the book; nineteen writing; Forty-one literacy and ten listening/watching-writing activities were determined. Activities for five of the eight speaking outcomes determined in the curriculum for the relevant book; the activities for nine of the eleven acquisitions determined as the writing outcome were determined in the book. It was found that the number of speaking activities increased as the themes progressed, and there was no balance in the number of writing activities according to the themes. In addition, both speaking and writing activities are not included in some themes at all. Considering the distribution of the five speaking outcomes in the book in the activities, a situation that can be considered balanced in general is seen. The frequency of the writing outcomes in the activities has become unbalanced. Three of the nine writing outcomes identified in the book found a place for themselves in only one activity. The microphone and pen images in the activities throughout the book were sometimes used unnecessarily, going beyond their purpose.
