Turizm sektöründe kadın işgücü oranının yüksek olması, turizmin “emek-yoğun” olduğu kadar “kadın-yoğun” iş alanı özelliği taşımasına da neden olmaktadır. Bu nedenle çalışmada turizm sektörünün istihdam yaratan önemli unsurlarından biri olan konaklama işletmelerinde kadın işgücünün performans düzeyi algıları incelenmiş ve kadınların performans düzeylerinin demografik özelliklere göre farklılıklarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma nicel veri toplama yöntemlerinin kullanıldığı keşfedici bir araştırmayı kapsamaktadır. Edirne il ve ilçelerinde faaliyet gösteren 58 konaklama işletmesinde istihdam edilen 157 kadın çalışana anket uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular; kadınların demografik özelliklerine göre performans düzeyleri algılarında önemli farklılıklar olduğunu göstermektedir. Bekâr ve lisans mezunu katılımcıların performans düzeyi algılarının daha yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Buna ilaveten kat hizmetlerinde çalışanların motivasyon düzeylerinin daha düşük olduğu ve sektörde çalışma süresi arttıkça performansın düştüğü belirlenmiştir.
Due to high women’s workforce ratio, tourism sector causes to have “woman-intensive” feature as well as “labor-intensive” feature. In the study, the perception of the performance level of the female workforce in the accommodation establishments, which is one of the important employment-generating factor of the tourism sector was examined and aimed at determining the differences of the performance according to the demographic levels of women. The study includes an exploratory research using quantitative data collection methods. A survey was conducted with 157 women working in 58 accommodation companies operating in Edirne provinces and districts. Findings show that there are important differences in perceptions of performance levels of women according to their demographic levels. It was determined that the perception of performance level of single and undergraduate graduates was higher. In addition, the level of motivation of the employees in the housekeeping department is than lower others and the performance decreases as the working period increased in the tourism sector.
