Abstract:

In this study, the scientific publications of academics working in institutions that educate at higher education level in the field of tourism guidance have been evaluated in terms of various parameters. The universe of research is formed by the publications of academics in the departments of tourism guidance of universities that provide tourism guidance education at the level of bachelor (faculty/higher school) and pre-graduate (professional high school) in Turkey. In the collection of research data, the document-archive scan method scans the university’s websites, academic data information systems and the academic database of the YÖK. The resulting CV and other data were used in the analysis of content, the visual analysis and the data were studied with cross-tables. According to the study, 290 academics worked in the tourism guidance departments, including 277 in Turkey with 38 faculties and 213 in high school and 26 in high school; the total number of them was 6601 publications, the vast majority in terms of the language of publication was Turkish (73.7 per cent). In terms of the type of publication, the academics were found to do 429 postgraduate thesis consultations with the most publication (42.7%) and article (35.4%) studies.
