Turist rehberliği eğitimi üniversitelerde lisans, önlisans, yüksek lisans ve doktora seviyelerinde verilmektedir. Türkiye’nin tanıtımı ve imajı konusunda oldukça büyük öneme sahip turist rehberliği mesleği eğitimi de sahayı bilen ve bu alanda yetişmiş akademisyenler tarafından verilmesi gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, üniversitelerde lisans ve önlisans düzeyinde turist rehberliği eğitimi veren bölümlerde görev yapan akademisyenlerin mezuniyet alanlarının incelenmesidir. Araştırma turist rehberliği eğitiminde sahadan gelen akademisyenlerin öneminin vurgulanması, turist rehberliği bölümlerinde bölüm mezunu akademisyenlerin istihdam edilmesi ve ileride yapılacak çalışmalara yön göstermesi açısından önemli olacağı düşünülmektedir. Araştırmada veri toplama tekniği olarak nitel araştırma yöntemi olan betimsel nitelikli tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma verileri üniversitelerin ve Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu’nun (YÖK) web sayfalarından elde edilmiştir. Toplam 56 üniversite bünyesinde görev yapan 248 akademisyen tespit edilmiştir. Turist rehberliği bölümlerinde görev yapan akademisyenlerin 61 tanesinin (%24) Seyahat İşletmeciliği ve Turizm Rehberliği, Seyahat İşletmeciliği ve Turizm Rehberliği Öğretmenliği, Turist Rehberliği ve Turizm Rehberliği lisans ve ön lisans mezuniyetlerine sahip olduğu saptanmıştır. Ayrıca, 138 (%55) tanesinin lisans eğitimlerinin turizm alanıyla ilgili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
Tourist guidance education is provided at universities at bachelor, pre-graduate, master and doctoral levels. Tourist guidance professional training, which has a great importance in the promotion and image of Turkey, must also be provided by academics who know the field and have grown up in this field. The purpose of this research is to study the graduation fields of academics who work in the departments that provide tourist guidance education at the bachelor and pre-graduate level in universities. The emphasis on the importance of academics from the field in the research tourist guidance training is considered to be important in terms of the employment of department graduate academics in the tourist guidance departments and the direction of the work to be done in the future. In the research, the image-qualitative scanning model, which is a qualitative research method as the data collection technique, was used. The research data is obtained from the websites of the universities and the Higher Education Institute (YÖK). In total, 248 academics working within 56 universities have been identified. It was found that 61 of the academics working in the tourist guidance departments (24%) have graduates in Travel Management and Tourism Guide, Travel Management and Tourism Guide Teaching, Tourist Guide and Tourism Guide and pre-graduate graduates. In addition, 138 (55%) of them have been found to be related to the tourism sector.
