İnsanlık tarihi kadar eski olan suç, nedenleri ve sonuçlarıyla toplumları etkileyen bir olgudur. Suçu ortaya çıkaran ve birbiriyle etkileşim halinde olan birçok faktör bulunmaktadır. Bu faktörler değişik bilim dalları tarafından ele alınmakta ve suçu önlemeye yönelik çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Bu bilim dallarından biri de coğrafya olup, mekânın suç oluşumundaki rolünü açıklamaya çalışmaktadır. Kuşkusuz suç bir mekân parçası üzerinde gerçekleşmektedir. Suçun mekândaki dağılışı, diğer olaylarla bağlantıları ve sebep‐sonuç ilişkisi ve dağılışı açısından coğrafyanın inceleme alanı içerisindedir. Yerleşim merkezlerinde işlenen suçların sayısı doğrudan nüfus miktarı ile ilgilidir. Bir yerleşim biriminde nüfus ne kadar fazla ise suç işlenme olasılığı da o kadar yüksektir. Bu bakımdan barındırdığı nüfus miktarı ve kozmopolit yapısıyla kentler kır yerleşmelerine göre suç üretme kapasiteleri daha yüksek olan yerleşmelerdir. Sahip olduğu zenginlik, yabancılaşma ve zayıflayan sosyal denetim mekanizmaları kentlerde suçun işlenmesi için ideal bir ortam oluşturmaktadır. Bu yerleşmelerden biri de Erzincan kentidir. Bu çalışmada Erzincan kentinde meydana gelen suç türleri ve bu suçlar arasında en fazla görülen kişiye karşı işlenen suçlar incelenmiştir. Kişiye karşı işlenen suçların dağılımı ve bu dağılıma etki eden sosyo-mekânsal farklılıklar irdelenmiştir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Erzincan İl Emniyet Müdürlüğü 2017 yılına ait suç istatistiklerinden yararlanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda kişiye karşı işlenen suç türleri ile kent içi arazi kullanımı ve sosyoekonomik özellikler arasındaki bağlantılar ele alınmıştır. Suç olayları zaman mekân boyutuyla incelenerek coğrafi bakış açısıyla yorumlanmaya çalışılmıştır.
The crime, which is as ancient as the history of mankind, is a phenomenon that affects societies with its causes and consequences. There are many factors that cause crime and interact with each other. These factors are being addressed by various disciplines of science and studies are carried out to prevent crime. One of these disciplines is geography, trying to explain the role of the place in the formation of crime. Unfortunately, the crime occurs on a part of the place. The distribution of crime in the place, its links with other events and its cause-resultate relationship and distribution are within the field of the study of the geography. The number of crimes committed in settlements is directly related to the number of people. The more the population in a settlement unit, the higher the probability of crime is. In this regard, the population and cosmopolitan structure of the cities are settlements with higher capacity to produce crime than rural settlements. The wealth it possesses, the alienation and the weakening mechanisms of social control create an ideal environment for crime in cities. One of these villages is the city of Erzincan. In this study we have investigated the types of crimes that occur in the city of Erzincan and the crimes committed against the person most frequently seen among these crimes. The distribution of the crimes committed against the person and the social-spatial differences that affect this distribution have been overwhelmed. For this purpose, the Erzincan Provincial Security Directorate has taken advantage of the 2017 criminal statistics. According to the data obtained, the links between the types of crime committed against a person and urban land use and socio-economic characteristics have been discussed. The crimes were tried to be interpreted from a geographical point of view by time examining the size of the space.

Its wealth, alienation and weakening social control mechanisms provide an ideal environment for committing crime in cities. One of these settlements is the city of Erzincan. In this study, the types of crimes that occurred in the city of Erzincan and the crimes committed against the most common ones were examined. The distribution of crimes against the person and the socio-spatial differences affecting this distribution are examined. For this purpose, the crime statistics of 2017 were used. In the light of the data obtained, the relationship between the types of crimes committed against the person and urban land use and socioeconomic characteristics were discussed. Crime events were examined in terms of time and space and interpreted from a geographical point of view.
