İnsanlık tarihi kadar eski olan şiddet olgusu, zamana ve topluma göre değişebilmektedir. Birçok bilimin ortak çalışma alanı olan suç kavramı, insan–mekân ilişkisi açısından coğrafyanın çalışma alanlarından biri olmuştur. Şehirlerde daha fazla suç işlendiği için çalışma alanı olarak şehir yerleşmesi seçilmiştir. Bu çalışmada 2018 yılında Siirt şehrinde polis sorumluluk bölgesi içinde meydana gelen kişilere karşı işlenen suç türlerinin mekânsal dağılışı ve bu dağılışın nedenleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Çalışmada Siirt İl Emniyet Müdürlüğü (Çocuk Şube Karakolu, Cumhuriyet Karakolu, Yenimahalle Karakolu), Siirt Belediye Başkanlığı ve TÜİK’ten alınan veriler kullanılmıştır. Siirt’te 2018 yılında toplam 1642 adet kişilere karşı suç işlenmiştir. Bu suçlar içinde ilk sırayı kasten yaralama (1079) suçu alırken, en az işlenen suç türü adam öldürme (13) suçudur. Elde edilen veriler kullanılarak Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri (CBS) ile dağılış haritaları oluşturulmuş ve çeşitli grafik ve tablolar ile konu aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Ortaya çıkan sonuçlar zaman ve mekân kavramının suç üzerinde doğrudan etkili olduğunu göstermiştir. Suçların mekânsal dağılışında mahalleler arasındaki sosyo-ekonomik farlılıklar ile arazi kullanım yapısı etkili olmuştur. Kişiye karşı işlenen suçların yaz aylarında daha fazla işlendiği görülmektedir. Şehrin suç tepeleri Bahçelievler, Yeni mahalle ve Barış mahalleleri iken; şehirde suçun en az işlendiği alanlar ise Halenze, Ülkü ve Karakol mahalleleridir.
The phenomenon of violence, which is as old as human history, can vary according to time and society. The concept of crime, which is a common field of study of many sciences, has become one of the fields of study of geography in terms of human-space relationship. The city has been selected as a work area because more crimes are committed in cities. This study focused on the spatial distribution of the types of crimes committed against persons occurring within the police responsibility area in Siirt City in 2018 and the reasons for this distribution. In the study, the Siirt Provincial Security Directorate (Child Branch Headquarters, Republic Headquarters, Yenimahalle Headquarters), Siirt Municipality and TÜIK received data were used. In 2018, a total of 1642 crimes were committed against Siirt. The first place in these crimes is intentionally injury (1079) the crime, while the minor kind of crime committed is the crime of killing man (13). The data obtained using the Geographic Information Systems (CBS) have created distribution maps and tried to illuminate the topic with various graphics and tables. The results showed that the concept of time and place directly affects the crime. In the spatial distribution of crimes, socio-economic differences between neighborhoods and the land use structure have been influential. The number of crimes committed against people is increased in the summer. The city's crimes mountains are Bahçelievler, New Neighborhood and Peace Neighborhood; the areas where the crime is committed in the city are Halenze, Country and Karakol Neighborhood.
The concept of violence, which is as old as the history of humankind, can change based on time and society. The concept of crime, which is a common field of study in many scientific fields, has become one of the fields of study of geography in terms of interactions of humans with the environment. Since more crimes are committed in cities, urban settlements were chosen as the area of study. In this study, the spatial distribution of the crimes against persons that took place within the area under control of the police in the city of Siirt in 2018, and the reasons of this distribution were investigated. Data obtained from the Siirt Provincial Police Department (Childrens Branch of the Police, Republic Police Station, Yenimahalle Police Station), Siirt Municipality and TURKSTAT were used in the study. In 2018, a total of 1642 crimes against persons were committed in Siirt. Among these crimes, the most common crime was intentional injury (1079) whereas the least common crime was manslaughter (13). Distribution maps were created using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and the data obtained; various graphs and tables were used to clarify the subject. The results showed that the concepts of time and space had a direct effect on crime rates. Socio-economic differences between the neighborhoods and the way land was used were important in the spatial distribution of crimes. Crimes committed against individuals are more common in the summer. Crimes were most common in the Bahçelievler, Barış and Yeni neighborhoods and least common in Halenze, Ülkü and Karakol neighborhoods. Based on these findings, recommendation were made regarding measures that need to be taken to prevent these crimes.
