Abstract:

To the end of the 20th century, the digitalization, which interferes in all areas of human life, evolves and grows every day as a thunderstorm. The technological developments in which concepts such as artificial intelligence, autonomous robots, big data and data mining find life, in particular with Industry 4.0, give a different direction to the individual’s perception. A new view of this form of perception has been brought together with the Industry 5.0 era. This new form of perception, found life in this period and called the Metaverse (phantastic universe), is expressed as a virtual society in which trade and entertainment also contain. At this point, the purpose of the study is to determine the levels of interest of individuals to Metaverse and to identify the level of awareness of the concept. For this purpose, using the data from Google Trends in the study, the worldwide 2016-2021 keywords 'Metaverse' are comparatively analyzed in the subcategories 'news' and 'employment'. According to the study, the concept of Metaverse is predicted to increase every year across the globe and within the relevant period and the world can quickly adapt to this new virtual society. In this regard, the study offers a different view of both the literature of social sciences and the concept of Metaverse and can be a reference to subsequent studies.
