Abstract:

The Iraq-Iran war, one of the longest and bloody wars in the Middle East history, has had a very significant impact on both the region countries and the power balance in the world. In this study, it was attempted to identify how the war between Iran and Iraq was assessed by the press agencies in Turkey and how it was transmitted to the public. The nature of the Foreign Policy magazine to deal with the issues of international relations of the period by writers from different sections in a broad framework is the reason why the magazine is selected as a sample in the work framework. Interviews, news and articles on the subject of the Iraq-Iran war in the Foreign Policy magazine are analyzed by the method of content analysis, while the texts on the subject of the war are mainly linked to what topics the developments are related, the positioning of the parties to the war and the approaches to the parties. The war has been addressed along with the issue of religious and revolutionary exports, and it is often seen that the process is transmitted to readers through the Iranian side. It is also found that in a large part of the texts studied, the main actor of the Ayatollah Humeyni was placed, and Saddam Hussein's explanations and speeches were found in a limited number of texts.
