Abstract:

In the 1960s, with the workers’ immigration to Europe, the Turks settled in the countries where they went, and the Turkish children began to get education in countries where their native languages were not spoken. The two concepts of linguistics that emerged on the basis of this process have often started to find a place in our field and have become a field on which we are currently working. The language and culture teaching books prepared for Turkish children living abroad are one of the studies conducted on the mother tongue education of two-language children. The Ministry of National Education is preparing Turkish and Turkish Culture books to improve the Turkish language skills of foreign Turkish children. According to the 2018 renewed Turkish and Turkish Culture Course Teaching Program, the next eight levels are determined in accordance with basic education instead of class. In this study, the aim is to study the activities aimed at listening skills in Turkish and Turkish Culture books (1-8 levels). The study was carried out by the examination of documents from the quality research methods. In the analysis of the texts, the content analysis was used. The study found that the distribution of the listening activities included in the books was different, and in some books there was no listening activity. Also in the books that have the activity of listening, the number of these activities is also determined to be insufficient.
