Abstract:

It is known that the morbidity and mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases throughout the world and in our country have reached severe numbers. Today, the morbidity of cardiovascular diseases has increased with the change in lifestyle and eating habits. Plant sterols/stones taken with the diet can change and improve these negative environmental conditions through various mechanisms. The mechanism of effect is the regulation of the cholesterol and lipid regulatory targets within the enterohepatic cycle. In the intestinal lumen, it has significant effects such as competing with exogenous (diet) and endogenous cholesterol, reducing intestinal cholesterol absorption and changing the expression of the genes responsible for cholesterol synthesis. Its effectiveness in the hepatic cycle and the risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, total cholesterol, low-intensity lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride serum concentrations significantly decrease. In addition, the plasma, which plays an important role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, affects the atherosclerotic process by reducing the fibrinogenic levels and the levels of thrombocytes that cause thrombocytic effects.
