Abstract:

This research aims to examine the effect of schools’ organizational DNA types on organizational socialization by determining the organizational DNA characteristics and organizational socialization levels of schools according to teachers’ opinions. The universe of the research consists of 8957 teachers working in official primary, secondary and high schools in Kahramanmaraş central districts in the 2020-2021 academic year. The sample of the study consisted of 374 teachers selected from the population by the "Simple Random Sampling" method. The research was carried out in a relational screening model. In the research, personal information form, Organizational Socialization Scale (Erdoğan &Dönmez; 2019) and Organizational DNA Characteristics Scale of Schools (Nacar & Demirtaş; 2021) were used for data collection. In the study, it was determined that the organizational DNA scale of schools was at a high level for the communicative and entrepreneurial school sub-dimensions, and at a low level for the idle and bureaucratic organization sub-dimensions. In the study, it was concluded that the organizational socialization levels of the schools were "high". It has been determined that the communicative and entrepreneurial sub-dimensions of organizational DNA have a significant effect on organizational socialization. It was determined that while the levels of organizational DNA related to openness to communication and entrepreneurial sub-dimensions increased, the levels of organizational socialization increased.
