Abstract:

Purpose - The active participation of individuals in the objectives and practices in the organizational life is closely related to the leadership approaches of managers. Individuals who are interested in themselves, expectations and opinions taken into account by the managers, will be at a higher level of participation in the organizational function. This is also important for the success of the educational organizations. The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the transformative leadership styles of school managers and the organizational citizenship behaviors of teachers. Method - Study adopts the quantum research design. The data of the study was obtained in the second period of the 2018-2019 educational year, with the survey method from 159 teachers working in primary and secondary school public schools in the province of Antalya, Gazipaşa. The research hypotheses were tested within the framework of the regression analysis. Results - The transformative leadership approaches of managers have a positive and meaningful impact on the teachers' organizational citizenship behavior. The inspiring motivation and individual interest from the subdimensions of transforming leadership have a positive impact on the explanation of organizational citizenship behavior, while the dimensions of charisma and intellectual incentive have no meaningful impact. Discussions - Research results show that some transformative leadership approaches of school managers, unlike the various studies conducted, have an impact on teachers’ organizational citizenship behavior.
