Abstract:

The purpose of the research was to examine the relationship between the teachers’ impression management tactics, organizational dissent, and subjective well-being. In this context, the levels of these variables and their relations with each other were investigated. The sample of the study consisted of 362 teachers working at public schools located in Altınordu, Fatsa, and Ünye districts of Ordu and determined by the random sampling method. In the data collection process, the “Personal Information Form”, “Impression Management Tactics Scale”, “Organizational Dissent Scale”, and “Teacher Subjective Well-Being Scale” were used. For the analysis of the data, some statistics such as arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis techniques were used. The results revealed that teachers’ use of impression management tactics and the level of organizational dissent were at intermediate levels, while subjective well-being was at a high level. While the most frequently used impression management tactic was “apologies”, the least used tactic was “obstacle”. The order of the most used dissent types was as follows: latent, articulated, and displaced dissent. Low-level and positively significant relationships were detected among impression management tactics, organizational dissent, and subjective well-being. The predictive effects of impression management tactics and organizational dissent on teachers’ subjective well-being were significant, and they explained 5.5 % of the variance in the total scale.
