The post-truth concept, which was chosen as the word of the year by the Oxford Dictionary in 2016, has since been widely discussed in the academic and popular summer. One of the major discussions on the subject is about the post-truth postmodernity relationship. It is especially seriously discussed whether post-modern speeches, primarily the doubtful post-modern speeches about science and truth, have an impact on the post-truth phenomenon. While some writers such as Ralp Keyes and Lee McIntyre relate two historical situations enough to claim that postmodern speeches lead to post-truth, there are also writers such as Truman Chen and Stuart Sim who evaluate this approach as a discretion and a misinterpretation. In this article, on the basis of the studies done so far in the world speaking English on the subject, we will try to discuss the post-truth-postmodernity relationship. The study tries to demonstrate that postmodernity as a philosophical and artistic approach, rather than a historical state, and the scientific/philosophical developments that lead to it, are effective in the post-truth state. Thus, the intellectual background of the post-truth situation that is claimed to be the basic defining concept of our age will be revealed. It is also intended to provide a literary knowledge about the post-truth phenomenon, a new concept, and to bring a definition proposal.
