Bu çalışma, TIMSS-2015 verilerini kullanarak Almanya ve Türkiye’deki öğretmenlerin mesleki gelişim faaliyetlerine katılımının 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik ve fen başarısına etkisini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Nicel araştırma modellerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılan bu çalışmada TIMSS-2015 değerlendirmesinden elde edilen ikincil verilerin analizleri yapılmıştır. İki aşamalı tabakalı örnekleme yönteminin kullanıldığı TIMSS-2015’e Türkiye ve Almanya’dan katılan 12071 ilkokul 4. sınıf öğrencisi araştırmanın örneklemini oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri, Uluslararası Eğitim Başarılarını Değerlendirme Kuruluşu’nun (International Association for the Evaluation of Education Achievement, IEA) internet sitesinden elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde t-testi ve çoklu regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, Türkiye’de, mesleki gelişim faaliyetlerine katılan öğretmenlerin öğrencilerinin matematik ve fen puanları ile katılmayanların öğrencilerinin puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunmadığı söylenebilir. Almanya’da ise mesleki gelişim faaliyetlerine katılan öğretmenlerin öğrencilerinin matematik ve fen başarı puanları ile diğerleri arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklar bulunan gruplarda etki büyüklüğü oldukça düşük bulunmuştur. Ayrıca, öğretmenlerin mesleki gelişim faaliyetlerine katılımının Almanya’dan ve Türkiye’den TIMSS-2015’e katılan 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik ve fen başarısını istatistiksel olarak anlamlı şekilde etkileyen bir faktör olmadığı ifade edilebilir. Çalışma sonuçlarına dayanarak önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
This study, using TIMSS-2015 data, aims to determine the impact of teachers in Germany and Turkey’s participation in professional development activities on the success of mathematics and science for 4th grade students. This study used the relative scanning model from the Nicel research models, analyzed the secondary data obtained from the TIMSS-2015 assessment. The two-stage layer sampling method is the sampling of the study of 12071 primary school 4th grade students from Turkey and Germany who participated in TIMSS-2015. The study was published on the website of the International Association for the Evaluation of Education Achievement (IEA). In the analysis of the obtained data, t-test and multiple regression analysis were used. According to the results of the analysis, in Turkey, it can be said that there is no statistically meaningful difference between the students' mathematician and science scores and the students' scores of those who do not participate. In Germany, teachers who participate in professional development activities have found a very low impact scale in groups with mathematical and scientific success scores and statistically significant differences among others. In addition, the participation of teachers in professional development activities from Germany and from Turkey to TIMSS-2015 participated 4. It can be stated that there is no factor that statistically significantly affects mathematics and science success of class students. Based on the results of the work, the recommendations were made.
