Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the mathematical literature self-qualification levels of class teacher candidates. The research has taken advantage of the screening model. The research was attended by 221 class teachers who studied at the Sakarya University School of Education Class Teaching Department. The research data was collected using the personal information form with the "Mathematical Reading Self-Equality Scale" developed by Özgen and Bindak (2008b). The data is analyzed using quantum data analysis techniques. As a person responsible for training their future students to be a mathematical writer, the level of mathematical literacy of the class teacher candidates is not a level that can be sufficiently accepted to be slightly below the average level. Class teacher candidates have been found to differ significantly by gender, class level, academic overall achievement score and attitude to mathematics variables. Learning environments should be planned, allowing class teacher candidates to link themes to everyday life and communicate using mathematical language, and the course contents should be updated in this direction.
