Bu araştırmanın amacı, öğretmenlerin mutluluk ve iyimserlik düzeyleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek ve cinsiyet, branş, mesleki saygınlık düşüncesi, mesleği sevme ve kitap okuma durumu değişkenlerine göre mutluluğun anlamlı şekilde farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını araştırmaktır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 540 (315’i kadın, 225’i erkek) branş öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, veri toplama araçları olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” “Oxford Mutluluk Ölçeği Kısa Formu” ve “İyimserlik Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerde ikili değişkenler için t-testi ve çoklu değişkenler için tek yönlü varyans analizi istatistik tekniği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre öğretmenlerin mutluluk puanlarında cinsiyet değişkeni açısından anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir. Diğer değişkenler olan branş, mesleki saygınlık algısı, mesleği sevme ve kitap okuma açısından mutluluk puanlarında anlamlı bir farklılık görülmüştür. Rehberlik öğretmenlerinin branş öğretmenlerinden, mesleğini sevenlerin sevmeyenlerden, öğretmenlik mesleğini saygın bulanların bulmayanlardan daha yüksek mutluluk puanına sahip olduğu bulunmuştur. Ayrıca okunan kitap sayısının artmasının mutluluk üzerinde etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. İyimserlik ve mutluluk arasındaki ilişki incelendiğinde .64 düzeyinde bir ilişkinin olduğu, ayrıca iyimserliğin mutluluğun %41 kadarını yordadığı bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonuçları ilgili literatür doğrultusunda tartışılmış ve öneriler sunulmuştur.
The aim of this study is to study the relationship between teachers’ happiness and optimism levels and to investigate whether happiness is significantly different according to the variables of gender, branch, professional reputation thought, career love and book reading status. The sample of the study consists of 540 (315 women, 225 men) branch teachers. In this study, the "Personal Information Form" developed by the researcher as data collection tools, the "Oxford Happiness Scale Short Form" and the "Optimity Scale" were used. In the analyses made, t-test for binary variables and one-way variance analysis statistical technique for multiple variables were used. According to the research findings, there was no significant difference in teacher’s happiness scores in terms of gender variation. Other variables, the branch, the perception of professional reputation, the love of the profession and the reading of books have seen a significant difference in the happiness points. The teachers of the guide have a higher degree of happiness than the teachers of the branch, those who don’t like their profession, those who don’t find their teaching profession. It is also found that the increase in the number of books read has an effect on happiness. When the relationship between optimism and happiness was studied, it was found that there was a relationship at .64 level, and that optimism was about 41% of happiness. The results of the research were discussed in accordance with the relevant literature and recommendations were presented.
The purpose of this research is to investigate the relation between teachers’ levels of happiness and optimism and whether happiness changes significantly according to variables of sex, branch, the thought of professional respectability, enjoying the occupation and the situation of reading book or not. The sample of the research is composed of 540 (315 female, 225 male) branch teachers. In this study, “Personal Information Form”, “Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (Short Form)” and “ Optimism Scale” were used as data collection tools. T - test for binary variables and ANOVA statistical technique for multiple variables were used in the analyses conducted. According to results of the research; it has not been seen a significant difference in happiness scores of teachers in terms of sex. It has been seen a significant difference in happiness scores in terms of other variables of branch, the thought of professional respectability, enjoying the occupation and the situation of reading book. It has been found that school counsellors have a higher happiness score than branch teachers have, teachers who like their occupations have a higher happiness score than they who do not like their occupations have, teachers who find teaching as a respectable occupation have a higher happiness score than they who do not find teaching as a respectable occupation have. On the other hand, it has been determined that the increase in the number of reading book is effective on happiness. When the relation between optimism and happiness has been investigated, it has been found that there are at a level of .64 relation besides, optimism predicts happiness about 41 percent. The results of the research have been discussed in accordance with the relevant literature and the suggestions have been offered.
