Abstract:

The aim of this study is to reveal the causes of writing anxiety in a foreign language, its effects on writing skills and ways to cope with writing anxiety. As a method of research in the study, the method of document analysis was used. The resources used as a data collection tool are mostly based on foreign spaces. The outcomes of the study concerning the concern about writing in a foreign language are these. Anxiety, which is part of life, is an emotional state that affects all learning and teaching processes in a broad sense, foreign language and writing processes in a foreign language. Anxiety has both positive and negative effects on the ability to write in a foreign language. However, this effect is mostly negative. There are many factors that affect writing anxiety. The first of these can be said is having a sufficient level of linguistic and word knowledge, the confidence in the individual’s self-confidence and writing skills, the students’ past experiences, time pressure, writing subject and evaluation process.
