Abstract:

In Turkey, since 2005, the teaching programmes are being developed according to the structural approach. In this regard, teachers candidates gain a lot of knowledge and experience about the structuring approach throughout their bachelor's training. The class teacher will reveal important perspectives on the determination of the perceptions and views of the candidates regarding the concept of structural approach, their bachelor’s learning process and how their curriculum can be applied by them. In this regard, the research has been attempted to study the perceptions and opinions of class teacher candidates about the concept of structural approach through metaphors. The study is designed according to the factual science from the patterns of the quality research method. In the selection of the study group, measurement sampling from targeted sampling techniques was used. The study included 117 teachers. In the analysis of data, the content analysis technique has been used. According to the findings obtained in the study, class teacher candidates produced 80 current metaphors related to the concept of structural approach. These metaphors are collected under 10 conceptual categories according to their characteristics. In addition, the most produced metaphors related to the concept of structural approach have been identified as "life" and "life itself". The categories in which the metaphors produced by the class teacher candidates were most classified were "activating the student" and "creating meaningful information".
